Happy July from your friends at Jovie! We hope your summer is going well and you are enjoying it. There has been so much happening here at Jovie! From hair shows to musicals, we have so much to tell you.

Our Trip to Orlando

We traveled to Orlando, Florida for one of the biggest hair shows of the year. Thousands of stylists come together in one big convention to further their education in the industry. Education is very important to us and we are always eager to learn and grow. The team attended different classes and learned new techniques. Everyone learns differently and each one of our stylists took the time to summarize their experience at the hair show:

Elena: Orlando’s 2013 hair show was amazing! I got to learn new techniques that were very helpful to add to certain cuts we do at Jovie. We got to see a men’s cutting class which was showing different techniques. Also, I got to meet Martin Parson! He does amazing updos; quick and fun. But one of the things I learned from this hair show is that you never stop learning new things. I love learning and growing more!

Lauren: We learned different ways to customize highlights for everyone’s unique needs and shape. We learned good tips for precision cutting on men, and we learned how to create a soft melting of color with highlights for nautral or bold pops of color with highlights for a fun way to stand out.

Elizabeth: I learned many different things in regards to how different tools can really help with getting that custom haircut for our clients. Also, we got to learn some new ways to do highlights and offer even more custom techniques for them: whether they are wanting to go for a more subtle look or go bold with pops of color. Overall, it was an awesome experience that was both fun and educational!

What a Feeling!

We have been a proud sponsor for Dallas Summer Musicals for many years now. Each year we sit and brainstorm ways we can get people excited and invovled. We decided to promote Flashdance the Musical by dressing up in our best 80’s attire.

We found some old sweaters, tights, and headbands, and needless to say, we rocked it!

Some of our awesome clients also got involved in the spirit and submitted their best photos from the 80’s for a chance to win tickets to the show! We actually went to opening night of the show and each of us summed it up in one word:
